Afrikaner Afrikaan (2009)

Politics / 48m / Feature / Documentary

Synopsis

Set in a radio station, a conversation between three men forms the backdrop for this film. It uses Afrikaans music as the vehicle to portray and explore Afrikaner identity and culture within a multi-cultural South African society. The three men hold opposing viewpoints about being in the minority group of Afrikaners, once the elite ruling class. They represent a microcosm of this society, through which the film explores the shifts that have been made from apartheid to post-apartheid. A fine line is explored between racial identity and racial supremacy.
